In a context where integrating climate change and biodiversity conservation into development sectors is crucial, having trained personnel to lead these initiatives has become a pressing need. The Costa Rica Forever Association (ACRXS), a non-governmental organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation and human well-being, recognizes the importance of strengthening its team’s capacities to implement effective climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. Through strategic partnerships with governments, the private sector, civil society, and international donors, ACRXS aims to mobilize resources and promote sustainable practices that contribute to national and international conservation goals.
ACRXS’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, particularly its focus on Biodiversity and Climate Change, prioritizes creating collaborative spaces to transform productive sector practices that negatively impact biodiversity. Given that climate change intensifies threats to biodiversity, adapting productive and conservation sectors is essential to reducing biodiversity loss rates. In 2022, ACRXS finalized its action plan to integrate climate change into its institutional work, establishing as its main objective ensuring the effectiveness of partnerships and managed funds by incorporating a climate perspective into biodiversity conservation.
To achieve these goals, training ACRXS staff has been identified as a key element. Strengthening the team’s skills and knowledge in climate change and conservation will optimize the organization’s efforts, ensuring that implemented initiatives are concrete, effective, and aligned with global sustainability goals. This approach not only contributes to biodiversity conservation in Costa Rica but also positions ACRXS as a leader in integrating climate action and conservation.
