Design of Two Plans for Ecosystem-based Adaptation Measures in Prioritized Areas of the Scaling Landscape in Costa Rica

To achieve this, Climate Lead Group (CLG) supported the implementation of the EbA LAC project by leading the participatory formulation of two territorial strategies for these to guide the implementation of 10 EbA measures in selected areas. These strategies aimed to strengthen climate resilience through an integrated approach that considered collaboration, coordination, and the participation of key stakeholders, with a special focus on gender and youth perspectives. Through a strategic diagnostic process aligned with existing territorial planning instruments, CLG identified key challenges and opportunities for implementing and scaling up EbA measures. The resulting strategies defined priority actions and pathways to strengthen ecosystem resilience, support sustainable livelihoods, and enhance local adaptive capacity. By also supporting the dissemination and uptake of these strategies, CLG contributed to advancing climate adaptation, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable rural development in Costa Rica, aligned with national and international adaptation goals.
