Technical Assessments for Dominica's 3rd NDC

Project description

Through the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) Climate Promise initiative, this project provided the technical assessments that underpinned Dominica's NDC 3.0. Its objective was to generate a robust, nationally owned evidence base and consolidate it into a coherent technical package that would inform the drafting of a more ambitious, implementable, and finance-ready NDC, one that would define the country's climate trajectory through 2035. The work encompassed core sectoral and cross-cutting assessments in mitigation (including sustainable cooling), adaptation (water, agriculture, coastal zones, infrastructure, health, ecosystems), and Loss and Damage, with gender, youth, elderly, and Indigenous considerations mainstreamed throughout. It also covered readiness and strategic options for Article 6 (carbon markets), as well as stakeholder engagement and validation, capacity building, and knowledge transfer. Beyond the technical outputs, the project included a capacity-building and knowledge-transfer package, all validated with national stakeholders.
